About ME,
Alexandra Holzner

Photography
I am a photographer from beautiful Switzerland. Growing up at the countryside, surrounded by forests and meadows, I learned to know and love nature at an early age. With my father, who is a passionate photographer himself, I went out as a child to explore nature, observe wildlife and capture it with the camera.
I realized that I found great beauty in the natural world and enjoyed the practice of photography as a way to connect with everything around me. Later, while privileged with the opportunity to travel to various countries, I continued pursuing my interests in photography.
The practice of nature photography allows me to connect with myself in a way that helps me to be present and to forget everything around me. Being a good photographer requires patience, observation, and even grace; the same ingredients employed in mindfulness practices.
As I become more present as a photographer, I notice I am able to connect more deeply, see in more detail, and take on new perspectives. I want to share these experiences and show people what nature has to offer.
Nature Conservation
Due to my great love for animals and nature, I have been volunteering in nature and animal conservation for several years. Among other things, in 2018 I worked in a rescue center for sick, injured and abused wild animals in Costa Rica. In 2019, I returned to Costa Rica to work for the conservation of sea turtles as well as sloths, among other projects.
My work around conservation has strengthened my desire and need to show people the beauty of nature in order to raise awareness about protecting it. In the process, I rediscovered my passion for nature and wildlife photography. With the help of photography, I want to inspire people to love and protect nature.
